Where Is Song Yiren Now? Navigating the Crossroads of Stardom and Public Controversy
For millions of C-drama fans worldwide, Chinese-Canadian actress Song Yiren (also known as Ireine Song) first captured hearts with her petite stature, expressive eyes, and undeniable charm as Sang Sang in the blockbuster historical fantasy epic Ever Night (2018). Following her breakthrough, she cemented her status as a rom-com and youth-drama staple through series like The Best of You in My Mind and Professional Single.
However, in recent times, followers of the actress have noticed a stark shift in her career momentum. What is Song Yiren up to, and where does she stand today?
The Turning Point: Online Storms and Industry Ripples
Song Yiren’s career trajectory hit a turbulent patch following major public controversies and unverified online rumor storms circulating across Chinese social media platforms like Weibo. In late 2025, online speculation erroneously and maliciously tied her name to internet rumors surrounding the tragic passing of actor Yu Menglong.
Despite official reports attributing the tragedy elsewhere, malicious digital rumors attempted to link public figures who had previously rented units or lived in the same residential compound. The subsequent wave of digital scrutiny caused immense friction for the actress, compounding structural delays as her former management contract expired around the same period, leaving her temporarily without swift, unified corporate PR backing.
